Portero donará $345 para preservar la naturaleza tras incendio forestal en Australia

El portero australiano del Brighton & Hove Albion Mat Ryan donará 500 dólares australianos (unos 310 euros, unos $345) por cada parada que cualquier portero realice en la jornada de este fin de semana en la Premier League.

En un comunicado publicado a través de sus redes sociales, Ryan explicó que el dinero se destinará a ayudar a preservar la naturaleza tras los incendios que está sufriendo Australia en las últimas semanas.

Las donaciones de Ryan irán a parar a la asociación Wires Wildlife Rescue, comprometida con el rescate y la rehabilitación de la vida silvestre en el país oceánico.

"Gracias a todo el mundo por su apoyo. Nosotros, como nación agradecemos y apreciamos vuestra generosidad. Sin embargo, sigue habiendo hogares destruidos y vidas de personas y animales en peligro. Espero que sigamos pudiendo alentar a la gente a recaudar dinero para ayudar", explicó Ryan.

In light of the devastation caused by the bushfires back home, I’m donating 500 Australian dollars for every registered save by all premier league goalkeepers across every @premierleague fixture for this weekend. I’ve chosen to donate to the @wireswildliferescue emergency fund. Thank you to all for your support thus far and as a nation we really do appreciate your gratitude and generosity. However there continues to be homes lost, lives of both people and animals lost or in danger, along with whole communities, businesses and more. Meet Billy.  Billy was brought out of the bushfire zone on Monday, with four burned paws. He’ll be in care for some time while his paws heal, and having daily dressing changes and treatments at the vets. He’s a very trusting and gentle soul, and his carers are head over heels in love with him. Is this how you would want to start the new year? Australia is burning. These fires have made climate change a reality of the present tense for many Australians. It is no longer something that we can put off to the future. To give some scale of the intensity of these fires, international media outlets have been reporting the 2018 California fires burnt 2 million acres; the 2019 Amazon fires 2.2 million, and the 2019 Siberian fires 6.7 million.
