J.C. Varela called for to make tough decisions

More decisiveness in terms of the decisions to make changes in his team was called for by politicians in opposition to President Juan Carlos Varela. This happened, after the recent announcement of possible changes in his Cabinet. Even in social networks, there are people who recommended the names of Ministers who would need quit the Government.

Among the recommendations of changes people mentioned Rodolfo Aguilera (public safety), Ramon Arosemena (MOP), Francisco Javier Terrientes (Minsa) and Marcela Paredes de Vasquez (Meduca).

In the opinion of the PRD and former Director of security Rolando Mirones, the pronouncement Varela "portrays full-length", "a person afraid to make decisions", although he admitted that the making decisions without thinking is not positive, but believes that the style of Varela is hurting.

Mirones said to understand that the President will not dismiss someone without having conversed with them previously, but he recalled that Ministers are not people that they have 15 days to be working and he assumes that Varela should talk to them at least once a week.

"These talks should have given the opportunity to express their concerns and at the same time the Ministers to him", said the PRD.

In addition, he recalled that the President is the head of the Ministers, and after almost two years, as head of State should already have an assessment of each Government portfolio.

The decision to begin "this process" of interviews with Ministers will take time, according to Mirones.

"That the President tell me at this point that he is going to consult with the Ministers to two years of work, then when going to end? That process is saying the President is going to take four months, and four months will say: well, we are already halfway through Government, we must not make any change (...) ", said.

He emphasized that not is referring to that you need to change Ministers, however, Varela, instead of taking a wise decision, what you trying to do is to "calm" the questions with this mechanism, "long look" in instead of taking a decision.

"I think it would be more courageous President told people that he simply considers that he must not change any Minister," he added.

Survey

The most recent Dichter & Neira survey confirms the worst note on the management of the President Juan Carlos Varela are gotten by his ministers.

The dissatisfaction over the work of some heads of ministerial portfolios is reflected when 55% of respondents described it as a 'bad' management.

In fact, lawyer Neftalí Jaén compared the situation with a football team where the director knows "who endures or who does not the 90 minutes of game" and from the outside, the fan sees who is failing.

Although he acknowledged that Varela´s analysis decision is "healthy", Jaen said that if that is his style, we will get to 2019 and will still continue talking with Ministers.

Respondents mentioned that 100 days, 6 months or 1 year are sufficient for a Minister to show the advances in his job.
