Officer was found with drugs in state vehicle

An official with the National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) was arrested in a vehicle of the institution in the Darien jungle with 20 packages of cocaine, said the State Border Service (SENAFRONT).

The official, unidentified, was intercepted on Saturday by agents of SENAFRONT in the town of Punuloso, Metetí, in the eastern province of Darien and the border with Colombia.

In addition, the detainee was seized US $ 1,302 in cash, while the drug was hidden in a metal box in the back of the wagon transportation SINAPROC, whose director, José Donderis, ordered his "immediate dismissal", according to the SENAFRONT.

The security institution said in a statement that the arrested with money and dope, "were put to the orders of the competent authorities."
Donderis announced that "measures be taken to prevent incidents of this nature repeated."
